In December 2017, a three-week training course for Iraqi medical officers took place at the Military Logistics Training Centre in Niš, in the South of Serbia.
The course was part of the NATO Defence Capacity Building Initiative for Iraq. It aimed to train Iraqi military medics in dealing with trauma victims and casualty evacuation. There were 19 participants from the Iraqi Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior and Counter-Terrorism Service.
Serbian military medics provided this training. This is the second phase of a training that started in Germany in November, and will continue in Iraq, in the theatre of operations, where Belgian forces will continue with training the Iraqi medical officers in life-saving skills.
